‘No excuses’ as Ninkovic, Bobo near Sydney FC return

An upbeat Graham Arnold could welcome back Bobo and Milos Ninkovic for what he expects will be a return to winning ways on Saturday night.

Sydney FC are looking to snap a three-game winless run in all competitions when they host Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium in Round 23.

Michael Zullo is unlikely to feature, but playmaker Ninkovic and top scorer Bobo should play some part after missing out on the midweek AFC Champions League draw away to Kashima Antlers.

“I’ve got that decision to make still with all the players,” Arnold told reporters on Friday.

“For the ones who played on Tuesday night it’s a four-day turnaround, a good turnaround, and they flew back business class so they’re ready.

“It’s the perfect scenario for players at the moment. More playing and less training.

“At the moment the games are coming thick and fast and we’re loving every part of it.

“The boys are in a great physical state, a great mental state, and I expect to win [on Saturday night].”

Arnold’s men were surprisingly beaten by a 10-man Newcastle Jets in their last Hyundai A-League outing two weeks ago.

But a visit from Roar – against whom they are unbeaten in five matches – could provide the perfect launching pad for the rest of the season.

“I expect that we will go through and win the last five games,” the Sky Blues boss said.

“Then we move into the Finals Series with the greatest defence in the competition and the greatest attack in the competition and give ourselves a great chance to get double trophies.”
