Newcastle Jets stalwart and local boy Ben Kantarovski has signed a two-year contract extension.
Kantarovski, 27, had put pen to paper on a deal which will keep the midfielder in the Hunter Valley until at least the end of the Hyundai A-League 2021/22 season.
“Newcastle is my home, the Jets have been my club since I was 15 and I’m happy to have signed on for another two seasons,” Kantarovski told the club website.
“We’ve got a really good crew here in Newcastle, there’s a real togetherness in this squad and it’s a good place to be.
“The team is a strong one, and I’m keen to just get my head down and work hard on helping to get us back into the finals.”

Kantarovski boasts 187 Hyundai A-League appearances for the Jets and made his professional debut aged just 16 years and 208 days old in Round 1 of the 2008/09 campaign.
The former Australian youth international and Broadmeadow Magic junior has made seven appearances for the Jets this season.
“Ben has developed into a real leader and to have him locked in for a further two seasons is huge for the club,” said coach Ernie Merrick.
“His influence on the players around him is clear and his ability to control the centre of the pitch is outstanding.
“Ben is an important player for us off the pitch as well, his influence in the sheds is enormous and I’m confident that he’ll only continue to grow in that aspect.”
