Perth Glory have secured the services of CommBank Young Matildas defender Naomi Chinnama ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.
At just 20 years of age, Chinnama has joined Perth with 43 games of Liberty A-League experience to her name, accrued across four seasons at Melbourne City between 2021 and 2024.
Chinnama will arrive at her new club after taking part in the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup with the CommBank Young Matildas, which is set to begin in Colombia in late August. It’s the second U20 World Cup of Chinnama’s young career, following the 2022 edition in Costa Rica.

The 20-year-old has followed American striker Gabby Hollar as the second Glory recruit of the off-season under new head coach Stephen Peters, who took the reins from former boss Alex Epakis after a 10th-place finish in the 2023-24 campaign.
“Naomi is a very strong central defender with a fantastic amount of senior football experience for a player of her age,” Peters said.
“This means she is ready to hit the ground running for us straight away, while also still having a huge amount of potential for further development.
“We’re very excited to have Naomi on board as part of the new-look squad we’re assembling and I’m sure our members and fans will really enjoy watching her play.”
