Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat was left frustrated by the way his side surrendered their lead in losing 3-1 to Sydney FC on Friday night.
The hosts coughed up an equaliser just two minutes after going ahead in the second half as Bobo’s header proved the catalyst for the Sky Blues’ late resurgence.
Muscat took particular issue with his side’s costly loss of concentration.
“We’re better than that,” Muscat told Fox Sports.
“It’s the manner, it’s not the goal. It’s just [an initial] kick [upfield] that should be dealt with and defended.
“You let the ball bounce, a cross comes into the box and after that you’re on the back foot.”
Victory went on to lose Jason Geria to a second yellow and shipped a further two goals over the remaining half-hour.
Key playmaker James Troisi agreed with his coach’s assessment of the turning point.
“It’s extremely disappointing,” the midfielder said.
“We were on the front, obviously scored and had some opportunities. To let a goal like [the equaliser] … if you make mistakes or give them space like that they’re going to punish you.
“The result isn’t a reflection of the game.”
