Adelaide United have confirmed 18-year-old attacker Musa Toure has secured a move to French Ligue 2 club Clermont Foot 63.
The Isuzu UTE A-League club will receive an undisclosed fee for Toure who has joined elder brothers Al Hassan (Ajaccio II) and Mohamed (Stade de Reims) in France; the three Toure brothers all made their professional debuts at Adelaide United and after completing his medical, Musa Toure has become the latest young player to rise through the ranks at the club and earn a move overseas.
Toure bid Adelaide United a fond farewell upon confirmation of his departure, and also paid credit to his former coach at local side Croydon FC Barry Noujaim for playing a significant role in nurturing his talent.
Toure spent a decade at Croydon FC as part of his development into an Isuzu UTE A-League debutant in 2022.
“I want to thank Carl (Veart), Airton (Andrioli), Mark (Milligan) and Damian (Mori), along with all the other staff for their support and guidance on and off the pitch,” Toure said.
“I also want to extend a special thank you to my former coach at Croydon FC, Barry Noujaim, for allowing me to play the game I love.
“I wish the Reds all the best in the future — au revoir.”
Toure made his Isuzu UTE A-League debut for Adelaide in Round 1 of the 2022-23 season against Wellington Phoenix and has played 11 games for the Reds.
Toure is the latest young Adelaide United talent to earn a move overseas; Giuseppe Bovalina departed the club for MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps this off-season, while Nestory Irankunda completed his high-profile move to German giants Bayern Munich.
Goalkeepers Joe Gauci (Aston Villa) and Steven Hall (Brighton and Hove Albion) have both moved to the Premier League in 2024, while Alexandar Popović made the move to K League 1 side Gwangju FC in January.
Adelaide head of football Marius Zanin described Toure’s move to Ligue 2 and Clermont Foot as “another example of the great work Adelaide United does in giving hardworking players like Musa the opportunity to transfer overseas.”
“It also further underpins our commitment to developing top young talent in South Australia and creating an environment where they can flourish.”
