Mitchell will stick with strikers

Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell has indicated he’ll stick with Adrian Trinidad and Eugene Dadi in attack for this Saturday’s final Pre-Season Cup hit out with Adelaide, despite the international pair struggling to gel in their last match.

Mitchell admitted after the Glory’s 1-0 loss to Melbourne that Ivory Coast-born striker Dadi and Argentine Trinidad had struggled with some poor delivery into the forward third.

But he was confident the pair would develop as a force to be reckoned with, especially as Trinidad has already scored for the Glory, when he won and put away a penalty during the club’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle during the Pre-Season competition’s opening round.

“I’ll be looking to keep the same formation and Trinidad and Dadi need to get fit, so they need to play,” said Mitchell on Wednesday.

“So that will be looking the same, but if they run out of legs, then I’ll put some fresh legs on,” he said.

Mitchell will be forced to make other changes, however, as attacking midfielder James Robinson is injured while left back Dino Djulbic will sit out this weekend’s clash with the Reds in Mount Gambier after picking up two yellow cards from the first two matches.

“There’s a couple of young boys (available), for there’s a few suspensions and injuries and I’ve just got to make up a team of different players this week,” Mitchell said. “Which is good, it will give them experience.”

Mitchell is the first to admit the Glory lacked cohesion during the loss to Melbourne, particularly through the middle, but he’s hopeful Brazilian midfielder Amaral will receive his Australian work visa in the near future and arrive in time for the club’s first hit-out of the new Hyundai A-League season, against Adelaide on August 17.

“I think it’s (the visa) in the pipeline,” Mitchell said. “It’s going to happen sooner rather than later, so hopefully it’s going to come through.”

“Hopefully by the end of the week something will happen, that’s what we’re looking at.”

“I asked him to keep training over there (in Indonesia) so he has been training. Match fitness is totally different, so I would expect he’d be able to play a least half a game if not 60, 70 minutes, which is a good part and hopefully the sooner he get here the sooner he will fit into the side.”
