The former Matildas captain made four appearances last season, including a debut in the AFC Women’s Champions League, while adding to her tally of more than 100 domestic appearances.

“Melbourne City really is home for me. This club isn’t just about football – it’s about the people, and they are my family,” said Barbieri, who is the longest-serving national league player in Australian history by quite some distance.

“Every day I get to live my dream by pulling on this shirt, and I don’t take that for granted.

“We’ve got a really special group here, and I love pushing myself alongside my teammates and coaches – we drive each other to be better. I’m excited for what’s ahead this season and I’ll be giving everything to help us achieve success together.”

Since joining City in 2017, Barbieri has contributed to three Premierships and two Championships across her eight seasons.

Barbieri – a pioneer of the game in Australia – has achieved almost everything in the game, including appearing at four FIFA Women’s World Cups and winning the AFC Asian Cup.
