Melbourne Victory have signed former Wellington Phoenix and Western Sydney Wanderers star Roly Bonevacia for the remainder of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The former Ajax midfielder returns to the A-Leagues having spent the past four seasons in the Middle East, playing across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
Bonevacia flourished for Wellington and Western Sydney before leaving the Wanderers for Al-Faisaly in 2019.
A product of Ajax’s famed academy, the 32-year-old moves to unbeaten Victory from Kuwaiti outfit Al-Tadamon.

“It’s great to be back in the A-League and playing for a club like Melbourne Victory and I can’t wait to get started,” Bonevacia – a 17-time Curacao international – said.
“Melbourne Victory is a club I have always admired from afar. The fans, the club and the stadium have always been the envy of the league and I’m looking forward to representing Victory on the field.
“The team has been amazing this season and I want to be able to bring more success to the team as we push towards the finals.”
During his previous spell in the A-Leagues, Bonevacia made 125 appearances over five seasons.
The former Netherlands U17 and U19 international also earned PFA A-League Men’s Team of the Season selection in 2016.
“We’re thrilled to have a quality player like Roly join us for the rest of the season and we have no doubt that he will make a positive impact this campaign,” said Victory head coach Tony Popovic.
“Roly is a versatile midfielder who has strong assets in both defence and attack and we believe his attributes will compliment our current midfield.”
