Melbourne City have signed Andreas Kuen ahead of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The left-footed former Austria youth international midfielder joins City from Greek Super League side Atromitos after signing a two-year deal, with an option for a further year.
Kuen, who was teammates with current Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund at Austria’s Sturm Graz before his $139million move to Old Trafford in 2023-24, scored three goals in 46 appearances in two seasons for Atromitos.
The 29-year-old made over 100 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists in stints with Wacker Innsbruck (2012-14), Rapid Wien (2014-18), Mattersburg (2018-20) and Sturm Graz (2020-22).
“I’m excited to start this new chapter of my career here at Melbourne City. I’ve heard so many
wonderful things about Australia and everyone here at the Club has been very welcoming,” said Kuen, who is known for his “elite passing range and ability to create chances out of nothing”.
“Since joining up with the squad, it is clear we have an exciting group with many talented young players.
“I am ready to bring my experience to the team, fight for the badge, and ultimately bring home more silverware for our fans.
“I can’t wait to play at AAMI Park and show the City faithful what I can do on the pitch.”

“Andreas is a highly technical player who brings substantial experience to our squad,” said director of football Michael Petrillo.
“His ability to control the game and create opportunities will be crucial for us this campaign. We are delighted to have him on board for at least the next two seasons.”
