Melbourne City have confirmed their final international signing with the arrival of Mexican-American attacking midfielder Lourdes Bosch ahead of the 2024-25 Liberty A-League season.
Bosch has joined the reigning premiers on a two-year contract as they prepare for the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League.
The “highly-rated US college talent” arrives having been named on the watchlist for the prestigious Hermann Trophy ahead of the 2023 season – awarded to the best college player across the United States.
In the USA, Bosch attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and California Baptist University during a decorated college career which saw her receive First Team All-Conference honours on multiple occasions.
“I’m so excited for this opportunity to play professionally in Australia,” Bosch said.
“I have heard so many great things about Melbourne City and the culture of the club, which I can’t wait to be a part of.
“I’m ready to make my mark in Australia and will do everything I can to continue the team’s recent success.”
Bosch is the latest new face at City, after Alexia Apostolakis, Mariana Speckmaier, Malena Mieres and Emilia Murray.
City have also re-signed Taylor Otto, Bryleeh Henry, Laura Hughes, Karly Roestbakken and Shelby McMahon.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DETAILS: Melbourne City’s historic AFC campaign
It has been a busy off-season for City, who have appointed Michael Matricciani as head coach after Premiership-winning head coach Dario Vidosic was lured to the Women’s Super League (WSL) Brighton and Hove Albion at the end of the 2023-24 season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lourdes to City and secure her signature for the next two seasons,” said director of football Michael Petrillo.
“She’s a player who possesses great technical ability, attacking flair and versatility in the final third.
“Her ability to find the back of the net and create chances for her teammates will further strengthen our attacking options.
“We’re confident that the squad we’ve assembled, further strengthened by the addition of Lourdes, has us well placed for the beginning of our AFC Women’s Champions League campaign.”
