Melbourne City teenager Shelby McMahon has signed a three-year contract with the Liberty A-League premiers.
Regarded as “one of Australia’s brightest young talents”, the 16-year-old sensation has been rewarded having impressed following her arrival as an injury-replacement player for Holly McNamara in January.
Junior Matildas midfielder McMahon burst onto the scene with two goals in seven appearances, including the goal to seal the Premier’s Plate, en route to City’s 2023-24 Grand Final appearance.
“I absolutely loved my first season at City and learned so much in just a few short months,” said McMahon.
“Being able to learn from my teammates has been massive for my development and I’m incredibly grateful to the team and the club.
“I can’t wait to continue this journey together and help fight for more silverware in the A-League and the AFC Women’s Champions League.”

McMahon’s three-year deal comes on the back of Taylor Otto, Bryleeh Henry, Laura Hughes and Karly Roestbakken (2025-26) re-signing at City.
City have also signed Alexia Apostolakis, Mariana Speckmaier, Malena Mieres (2024-25) and Emilia Murray.

“Shelby has been a revelation since joining us and we’re absolutely thrilled to have her re-sign for the next three seasons,” said City’s director of football Michael Petrillo.
“She showed great maturity, composure and technical ability in her maiden season, as well as an enthusiasm to continue to learn and develop her game.
