Perth Glory have signed experienced goalkeeper Matthew Sutton on a three-month injury-replacement contract, following a knee injury suffered in training by off-season recruit Mark Birighitti.
Birighitti joined his hometown Isuzu UTE A-League club in June on a two-year contract but suffered the injury setback in training just days out from the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Glory moved quickly to secure the services of 25-year-old gloveman Sutton who made 74 saves across 29 starts at Western United last season.
The former Western United, Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City shot-stopper has made 37 Isuzu UTE A-League appearances and has been included in his new side’s extended squad for Saturday’s Round 1 clash with Wellington Phoenix at HBF Park.
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis hailed Sutton as one of the league’s “standout” goalkeepers as he welcomed the injury-replacement signing to the club.
“It’s obviously very unfortunate that Mark has picked up an injury, especially on the eve of the season, but we have moved quickly to bring in a very talented short-term replacement in Matt,” he said.
“He was one of the standout goalkeepers in the A-League last term and will compete strongly with Cameron Cook for that starting spot in goal.”
Glory host Wellington at HBF Park on Saturday, October 18, with kick-off scheduled for 6.45pm local (9.45pm AEDT).
