Ninja A-League stars Michelle Heyman and Holly McNamara have been called up by the CommBank Matildas for international friendlies against Wales and England.
Canberra United legend Heyman and Melbourne City sensation McNamara are in Joe Montemurro’s 24-player squad to face Wales in Cardiff on October 26 before going head-to-head with European champions England in Derby on October 29.
Heyman and McNamara retain their place in the Matildas squad, having also featured in the last international window against Panama as Australia continue to gear up for the 2026 AFC Asian Cup on home soil.

A-Leagues icon and Chelsea superstar Sam Kerr will return to the national team for the first time since November 2023 following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in January 2024.
Former Sydney FC star Cortnee Vine (North Carolina Courage) and ex-Brisbane Roar favourite Katrina Gorry (West Ham) are also back in the Matildas squad, while Roar captain Tameka Yallop (hamstring) remains unavailable alongside Manchester City sensation Mary Fowler (ACL).
All 24 players in the latest Matildas squad have come through the A-Leagues.
“We are excited to bring this group together for two important fixtures in the October window where we have the opportunity to challenge ourselves, strengthen our cohesion, and continue shape the way we play,” said head coach Montemurro.
“The squad showcases the depth we are looking to build, by utilising experienced players who continue to set high standards alongside the next generation of CommBank Matildas players.
“It will be Australia’s first time competing against Wales and there is a competitive history with England, so both games will provide different challenges to test the team, our playing style and the way be play together.
“Having Sam back in the squad is a special moment – not just for the team, but for Australian football. Her leadership and presence are invaluable as we continue building toward the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ and beyond.
“The team and my expectations in October are that we will continue to work hard, be humble and grow as a collective unit.”
