Cortnee Vine has been ruled out of the Matildas’ final Round 2 Olympic qualifier against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday night due to a hamstring injury.
Vine suffered the injury during the Matildas’ 8-0 win over Philippines on Sunday and has since returned to Sydney FC to continue her recovery.
She is now in doubt to feature in the Sky Blues’ upcoming participation in the AFC Women’s Club Championship in Uzbekistan, kicking off on Monday.
Sydney face Iranian side Bam Khatoon on November 6, before Uzbek outfit Nasaf on November 9 and Hyundai Steel Red Angels on November 12.
It’s the latest injury blow for the reigning Liberty A-League champions who are already without captain Nat Tobin for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury.
Emily van Egmond and Ellie Carpenter have also departed Matildas camp, with the duo returning to their respective club.
An agreement was made between Football Australia and their respective clubs, San Diego Wave and Olympique Lyon, to allow the duo to arrive back at their clubs earlier than normal.
No additional players will be registered for the clash on Wednesday night.
The Matildas sit top of Group A after wins over Iran and Philippines, and need only a draw in their clash with Chinese Taipei at HBF Park to secure their place in the next round of qualifying.
