Arsenal took a big step towards the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage as Caitlin Foord’s stunning performance inspired a 6-0 rout of Rangers.
Foord scored four goals for Arsenal in their Champions League qualifier, which helped book book the Women’s Super League (WSL) club’s place in the Round 1 final against Rosenborg.
The Liberty A-League legend and CommBank Matildas star put on a show in Arsenal’s first competitive game of the season, opening the scoring in the 16th minute before completing her hat-trick 21 minutes from the end.

Foord, who also scored a sensational volley, netted her fourth goal in the 90th minute as the Australia international celebrated her first club hat-trick since a three-goal haul for Sydney FC in 2018.

“Caitlin Foord is a great player to come inside on these diagonal passes and timing runs and attacking the back post,” said Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall, who had Kyra Cooney-Cross in the starting XI while Steph Catley was absent.
“We have seen her score numerous goals like that before but maybe today we had more service in those areas than before.
“It is great to see a player like Foord who works so extremely hard all the time get a reward for that.
“It is a team effort but of course, it is individual brilliance from her.”
