Matchweek 11 preview: Central Coast Mariners v Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC have the chance to stall the superb form of Central Coast Mariners and draw within one point of their opponents at the top of the A-League table in a battle between first and second on Monday night.

The contest at Central Coast Stadium sees the two sides resume battle after the Mariners won 2-0 over Macarthur on the road in Matchweek 2, thanks to goals from Daniel De Silva and Jordan Smylie.

The Bulls and Mariners head into the fixture on similar runs of form, with three wins from four including victories in Matchweek 10 which followed on from a loss to both teams in Matchweek 9.

Macarthur are in second spot on the A-League table on 17 points. A win over the Mariners would send Ante Milicic’s side four points above Western Sydney Wanderers in third, and to within a point of the Mariners.

There’ll be key battles all over the park as Oliver Bozanic looks to continue his superb run of form in the middle of the park against a Bulls engine room led by Beñat Etxeberria, while Golden Boot contenders Matt Derbyshire (seven goals) and Alou Kuol (six) will be keen to have the final say in the contest and keep their respective goal tallies ticking over.
