Melbourne City star Mathew Leckie is set to miss up to two months of action after suffering a hamstring strain last week.
Leckie sustained the injury in training late last week and missed City’s 3-2 win over Sydney FC, with scans since determining he will miss up to 6-8 weeks.
The Socceroos winger had been in tremendous form prior to hurting his hamstring, scoring six goals and tallying three assists in 17 games this season, with coach Rado Vidosic even suggesting he was in career best form.
In another blow to City’s attacking stocks, young striker Arion Sulemani faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines after tearing his ACL.
Sulemani recently signed a two-year scholarship deal off the back of a tremendous campaign with City’s NPL outfit last season where he scored 12 goals in 15 games – helping his side seal promotion to NPL2.
The 17-year-old was also on the brink of making his senior debut, having made three bench appearances in City’s Isuzu UTE A-League side earlier this season.
However, in a boost to City’s defensive stocks, both Curtis Good and Scott Jamieson are nearing a return to action and will undergo further testing to determine their availability for this Friday’s clash with Adelaide United.
