Jets confirm signing of Macarthur fan favourite: ‘I’m excited to see what level he can go to’

Newcastle Jets have announced the signing of Lachlan Rose following the attacker’s departure from Macarthur FC.

A foundation member of Macarthur’s inaugural 2020-21 season, Rose farewells the Bulls as a “fan favourite” who left a “lasting impact on and the club both on and off the field”.

The 25-year-old forward – the 2021-22 Macarthur Medallist – scored 19 goals from 98 appearances across all competitions, and will now link up with the Jets ahead of their Australia Cup match against Western United in Darwin.

“I’m keen to rip in straight away in Newcastle and get to work,” Rose said.

“After speaking with Rob Stanton I’m excited for the season ahead. I can’t wait to play my first game in Newcastle in front of the fans and meet as many of you as possible. It’s time to get to work.”

Jets boss Rob Stanton added: “I’m pleased to be able to bring Lachie here to the Jets. He is someone who is a very direct player who can cover a couple of positions however he is a player of quality and I’m sure our fans will enjoy watching him.

“He will add class to our attacking options and I’m excited to see what levels he can go to.”

Rose penned a lovely message to Bulls fans as his departure was confirmed last week.

“Thank you so much for your unwavering support over the past few seasons and the unforgettable memories that I’ll cherish forever in my heart,” Rose said.

“To all the players and staff and the owners, thank you for playing a massive part in my journey.”

Rose joins Raphael Borges Rodrigues (Coventry City), Ali Auglah, Jake McGing (retired), Charles M’Mombwa, Daniel De Silva, Danijel Nizic, Jerry Skotadis, Jesper Webber, Kearyn Baccus, Matthew Millar, Tommy Smith and Ulises Davila in leaving the Campbelltown-based club.

Macarthur, however, have recruited former Sydney FC captain Luke BrattanMarin JakolišLiam Rose and Socceroo Chris Ikonomidis.

Ariath Piol, Alexander Robinson and Walter Scott have re-signed.
