Confidence. That is what Macarthur Bulls will take into Sunday’s Isuzu UTE A-League showdown with Sydney FC after moving a step closer to the AFC Champions League Two knockout phase.

Macarthur conquered Vietnamese outfit CAHN 2-1 in Campbelltown on Thursday as the Bulls soared to the top of Group E through four matchdays.

Macarthur recruit Sime Grzan broke the deadlock in the 20th minute before CAHN hit back 10 minutes later.

“The game was expected,” Bulls head coach Mile Sterjovski told reporters. “It was a tough match for us.

“Very pleased with the performance and getting the three points was vital.”

DEEP DIVE: Sydney star is part of an exclusive club. He could also hold the key to unlocking Sky Blues

Macarthur will now turn their attention to Sunday’s trip to Leichhardt Oval, where they will go head-to-head with in-form Sydney FC.

The Bulls have collected four points from their past two games entering Round 4, while the Sky Blues have celebrated back-to-back wins.

Sterjovski added: “We take the confidence from the win. It’s not an easy opposition to play against as Sydney will be a tough opposition.

“I feel we’re growing and we’re building as a team. We take the three points with confidence going into Sunday.”
