Former Sydney FC captain Luke Brattan joins cross-town rivals Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC have announced the signing of former Sydney FC captain and experienced midfielder Luke Brattan for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Brattan, who wore the armband for Sydney FC through the 2023-24 season, left the club after five years and 119 appearances in Sky Blue.

The former Sydney, Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar midfielder arrives at Macarthur with four Isuzu UTE A-League Championships and two Australia Cup titles to his name. The 34-year-old says he was eager to play a role in the long-term vision for the club laid out to him before arriving in Campbelltown.

“I’m very excited to have joined the club for next season and I can’t wait to get started,” Brattan said.

“After speaking with management and understanding the plans they have in place for the club moving forward I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of.”

Macarthur head coach Mile Sterjovski added: “I see him as a quality player with plenty of experience and knows what it takes to win a Championship. “

“He is a natural leader and will be vital for our push for finals football again and above all he has the values of a good human being which important for our family.”
