The Young Matildas moved through to the second round of 2024 AFC Under-20 Asian Cup qualifying thanks to a convincing 7-0 victory over hosts Kyrgyz Republic.
A Liberty A-League quartet were among the scorers, with Melbourne Victory’s Alana Murphy and Adelaide United striker Emila Murray firing home a brace apiece in Bishkek.
Murphy’s Victory teammate Ava Briedis and Sydney FC young gun Jynana Dos Santos found the back of the net along with Ella O’Grady.
The win wrapped up top spot in Group C for Leah Blayney’s Australia, who also came away with a 13-0 victory in their opening game of the first round of AFC qualifying.

However, it was Murphy who stole the show, scoring a free-kick to open her account before weaving her way through two defenders to round out her brace.
Murray was also dynamic in attack, firing home her two goals just before half-time to give her side a four-goal advantage before the break.
Briedis also hit the net from a set-piece in the dying minutes to round out the seven-goal drubbing at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium.
The second round of qualifying kicks off in June, with the draw to be completed at the conclusion of the first round.
