So impressive in their travels so far this season, the Sky Blues have managed just one win from four games at the SFS this campaign.
While they did end Brisbane’s record 36-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 home win earlier this month, that match was played at WIN Jubilee Stadium and not SFS.
It was yet another case of giving their opponents a start before battling valiantly to fight back and take something from the match.
While the point was enough to move Sydney up to third spot, just one point behind Brisbane Roar, their inability to take maximum points from their home fixtures is becoming a greater cause for concern for the Sydney boss.
“It seems more tough for us to play at home than away at the moment,” Lavicka said.
“It’s disappointing, we wanted to pick up three points.”
“We conceded early in the game, then improved scored a goal and the second half was similar.”
“But the boys again showed good character to come from behind. We created chances and tried to be positive but we wanted to find more than we did [in this game].”
While admitting the home results needed to improve, Sydney midfielder Karol Kisel, who scored one of his side’s goals from the penalty spot, said it was an issue that can be fixed.
“The results are like that at the moment but we prefer to play at home, our crowd is incredible so it’s always better to play at home,” he said.
“We’re unlucky to concede early goals in our home games and then we go a bit crazy.”
“We have to improve on that part and still play our game.”
“Once we are one goal down there’s more space for other teams to counter and that’s why we concede more goals at home than away.”
“There’s room to improve and that’s what we have to work on.”
Lavicka was again proud of the character his side showed in coming from behind twice against the Reds.
The Sky Blues have now picked up 11 of their 19 competition points this season after going behind.
Sydney skipper Terry McFlynn picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and will miss the club’s next game against Melbourne Heart at the SFS next Thursday night.
