Brisbane Roar sensation Laini Freier produced a priceless reaction after becoming the first player in Ninja A-League history to score back-to-back hat-tricks.
After scoring her first professionals goals in a memorable hat-trick performance on starting debut in Round 7 against Newcastle Jets, the 23-year-old and twin sister of Sharn Freier backed it up with another devastating display, which featured an incredible long-range strike.

“Oh, that’s insane,” she told Paramount+ afterwards when told of her history-making hat-trick.
“I honestly have no words. I’m stoked. I didn’t even know that was a thing.
“Just to be out here with the girls and playing the way we are, it’s an unreal feeling. To put it in the back of the net, I’m just doing my job.”
A month ago, Laini Freier had not not played professional football. Now she is the joint leading goalscorer in the Ninja A-League while playing alongside her twin sister and CommBank Matildas forward Sharn.
“Look it’s something we’ve always wanted to do,” she said.
“To be able to do it out on the field and show what we can do together, it’s a pretty good feeling.”
Brisbane showed no mercy against 2022-23 Grand Finalists Western as second-placed Roar equalled their largest winning margin in the competition while handing Western their heaviest ever loss.
The Roar are second and within two points of reigning premiers Melbourne City.

“Absolutely,” Laini Freier replied when asked if something special was building at the club.
“The vibe around the team, at training, away camps, everywhere we are, it’s a great vibe.
“There’s laughter. It’s just a great group and we all get along really well, and we can tell by the way we’re performing.”
