Kosta Barbarouses parts ways with Melbourne Victory

Kosta Barbarouses has parted company with Melbourne Victory after confirming his intentions to explore other opportunities.

The popular New Zealand international finishes his second stint at Victory with 161 appearances and 51 goals across all competitions, having represented the Club between 2013-2016 before returning ahead of the 2017/18 season after a campaign with Phoenix in his native Wellington.

He scored 15 times during 2018/19, his most prolific season to date in the Hyundai A-League.

Part of Victory’s domestic treble-winning side in 2014/15, he also scored the only goal of the game in the 2017/18 A-League Grand Final against Newcastle Jets to secure a fourth Championship for the Melbourne club.

“Kosta has not only been a terrific servant to Melbourne Victory over his two stints with the club, but also a great individual both on and off the field,” Victory’s GM Football Operations, Paul Trimboli, said.

We put forward an offer to keep Kosta here as we build towards our next chapter as a club, however he unfortunately declined this offer.

“As a Club, we thank Kosta for his contributions to our success in recent seasons and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
