Kisnorbo blow for Heart

Patrick Kisnorbo’s injury fears have eased but he will be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering cartilage damage against Perth Glory on Sunday.

Patrick Kisnorbo’s injury fears have eased but he will be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering cartilage damage against Perth Glory on Sunday.

Kisnorbo was forced off in the second half of Melbourne Heart’s 1-0 A-League defeat at nib Stadium and it had been feared the centre-back had sustained a potentially serious knee ligament problem.

The 32-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery to determine the extent of the problem, with the operation revealing no major structural damage.

John Aloisi’s team are unlikely to have the defender back until late November, and he is expected to miss Sunday’s game away to Brisbane Roar, as well as the visit of Western Sydney Wanderers on November 8 and a home match against Sydney FC on November 15.

The Round Seven game away to Newcastle Jets on November 24 may also come too soon for the experienced stopper.

Heart captain Harry Kewell meanwhile is due to return to training following a whiplash injury sustained in a clash of heads during the Round One derby against Melbourne Victory.

However, the playmaker remains doubtful for the trip to Suncorp Stadium this weekend.
