Despite a man of the match display by Adelaide United keeper Paul Izzo, Perth Glory defeated an injury-ravaged Adelaide United 1-0 on Saturday night at nib stadium.
STORY OF THE GAME
- A sensational opening after just two minutes – Marrone bundled over Glory’s Keogh and a penalty was awarded. But Paul Izzo down low saved Diego Castro’s effort.
- A couple of minutes later Izzo brilliance again stopped a certain goal as Glory lay siege to the visitors’ box.
- The Reds found their way back into the game and had some good moments, but it was Perth’s Adam Taggart who went close on the stroke of half-time.
- 0-0 at the break.
- Izzo again at his best to keep out Chris Harold 10 minutes after the resumption of play while Glory keeper Liam Reddy did well to keep out an Adlung free kick minutes later.
- Reds’ Karim Matmour left the field with bruising to his arm after a muscular coming together with Alex Grant.
- Izzo once again with a superb stop from Taggart after a lightning quick counter-attack from Glory on 76 mins.
- But Glory substitute Mitch Mallia proved the game-change with a brilliant assist for Keogh’s opener inside the final 10 minutes.
- The game was played in front of just over 11,000 fans.

Castro picked the ball up inside the Reds’ half and found sub Mitch Mallia wide. His brilliant change of pace saw him zoom past his defender to the line where he hung up a lovely cross for Keogh to power his header home.
