Adelaide United have confirmed the return of experienced centre-back Jordan Elsey to the club on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old is back at the club where he made 141 appearances between 2013 and 2021. Elsey won the Isuzu UTE A-League Rising Star Award at the Reds in 2013-14, was an integral member of the club’s 2015-16 Premiership/Championship double-winning squad and lifted the Australia Cup twice with Adelaide in 2018 and 2019.

Elsey’s Adelaide departure led to brief stints at Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory and Indian Super League side East Bengal but now, the central defender is delighted to be back in red.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be coming back home to Adelaide United,” Elsey said.
“This club means everything to me, and to be able to wear the red shirt again is something really special.
“I’m feeling great physically and mentally, and I’m ready to contribute both on and off the pitch. I’m excited to be a leader in the dressing room and give everything I have to help the team succeed this season.”

Elsey has been training with Carl Veart’s Adelaide since mid-July. He’s been described by Adelaide technical director Ernest Faber as a player capable of leading the way for the club’s young players.
“Jordan embodies much of the DNA of our club, having played the majority of his career here,” Faber said. “His international experience has enhanced his leadership skills, making him a key influence for our younger players.
“He is solid in defence, strong in passing, and a valuable asset during set pieces with his ability to win headers.”
Elsey and Adelaide have a Round 1 bye in the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season but will take on Central Coast Mariners at home in Round 2 on October 26.
