Jordy Bos was speechless as he stepped out at De Kuip, the home of Dutch giants Feyenoord.
The Socceroos fullback and Melbourne City academy graduate had just inked a four-year contract with the Eredivisie side; he had an array of emotions written across his face as he came to terms with the significance of his latest European move.

For Bos and his family, Feyenoord isn’t just any old club. It’s the club his Dutch-born father has supported for life.
“It’s my family’s club,” Bos told club media. “My dad is Dutch, so his whole family have been supporting Feyenoord for many generations.

“I’ve been receiving a lot of messages, hoping it would come true, and it finally has.
“It’s amazing. It’s a big, great club, so just having that interest and then coming for me was life-changing… it’s a really special day, not just for me but also my family.”
Bos joined Feyenoord from Belgian Pro League side KVC Westerlo, where he spent the past two seasons following his move from Isuzu UTE A-League club Melbourne City.
The City youth academy product left the Isuzu UTE A-League for Europe in mid-2023, joining Westerlo from City for what was an Australian record transfer fee at the time.
The Socceroo made 46 appearances for Westerlo and notched seven goals and five assists before his move to Rotterdam, where he’ll work under Dutch legend Robin van Persie.

After an injury-impacted 2024-25 campaign, Bos says he’s ready to fire on all cylinders at his new club following a rehabilitation stint back home in Melbourne and a solid pre-season at Westerlo.
“I’m fully fit,” he said. “I was injured five months ago, I got surgery and did my rehab back in Australia and about a month before pre-season in Belgium started, I was already back in training and doing my rehab back in Belgium. I did my full pre-season with my club in Belgium.”
First up for Bos at Feyenoord is an exciting European tie, with a clash against Turkish side Fenerbahçe SK in the third phase of UEFA Champions League qualifying. The two-legged tie begins with the first leg at home for Feyenoord on August 5.
“It’ll be a huge game,” he said. “It’ll be my first European qualifier so I’m really looking forward to it.”
