The Newcastle Jets have unveiled a revamped coaching structure on Monday evening.
Less than a week after announcing assistant Mark Jones would be leaving the club after a reported disagreement with coach Branko Culina, the Jets have welcomed new faces David Lowe and Marshall Sopor, while Clint Gosling has moved from a part-time to full-time role as goalkeeping coach.
According to a club media release, Lowe’s position will involve identifying talent from throughout the local area and around the country in order to improve the club’s development of youngsters through their National Youth League side.
“I couldn’t think of anyone better qualified than David to take up this position,” declared Culina.
“He has a wealth of knowledge and is well known at both the senior and grass roots level.”
Soper, a former Qantas Socceroo, takes up a new position of specialist skills coach while local identity and current All Whites goalkeeping coach, Clint Gosling, will become a permanent member of the coaching team.
“The appointment of these three very skilled ex professionals offers us knowledge, expertise and a fresh approach,” said Culina.
