Jets tie down another young gun to multi-year contract: Details

The Newcastle Jets have continued their re-signing spree by handing young gun Xavier Bertoncello a new contract extension.

20-year-old Bertoncello started his footballing journey at New Lambton Eagles before joining the Newcastle Jet’s Academy at age nine.

The young forward made his debut for the Club in this year’s Australia Cup campaign, starting against Adelaide United before scoring his first goal in the Round of 16 against Cooks Hill FC, topping it off with another in the Semi-Final against Avondale FC.

Bertoncello made his A-League debut in Round One of the 2025/26 season against the Central Coast Mariners coming on as a second-half substitute.

The forward scored his first goal in the A-League for the Club against Perth Glory in Round five at McDonald Jones Stadium. Bertoncello has scored five goals so far in 2025/26.

Bertoncello is thrilled to continue his journey with his boyhood team.
