Newcastle Jets bounced back from successive defeats to give their top four hopes another boost in a 2-1 win away to Adelaide United on Saturday.
Katie Stengel scored her fourth of the campaign and Tori Huster extended the advantage after half-time to set Newcastle on their way to a third victory in five matches.
Katie Naughton did pull one back for the hosts by heading home a Danielle Colaprico free-kick shortly after Huster’s strike.
But it wasn’t enough to keep the Reds from suffering a third defeat in fixtures, leaving them level with bottom-placed Sydney FC.
The Jets, meanwhile, join three other sides on nine points and appear on course for a first Finals Series appearance since the competition’s inaugural season.
More to come.
