Newcastle Jets’ goalkeeper Izzy Nino has collected the Liberty A-League Fan Player of the Month award for February, after a public vote.
Nino’s Player of the Month win continues the goalkeeper dominance of the monthly award in the Liberty A-League this season; Phoenix keeper Rylee Foster won both the October/November and December fan votes, with Western United’s Hillary Beall claiming January honours before her return to parent club San Diego Wave.
Throughout the 2023-24 Liberty A-League season, 10 players are selected every month on a shortlist for you, the fans, to select from in voting for Player of the Month.
The 10 nominees are selected via the Opta Index, with the 10 highest-scoring players in the index nominated each month.
Nino was the ninth-highest scorer on the Opta Index in the Liberty A-League in February, ahead of 10th-placed Sasha Grove and behind Kyah Simon, Courtney Newbon, Melissa Barbieri, Cortnee Vine, Nickoletta Flannery, Michelle Heyman, Sarina Bolden and Emily Gielnik.
Nino won the fan vote, conducted across A-Leagues social media, with Jets teammate Bolden close behind and Matildas star Simon the third-highest poller.
