Isaías returns to Reds for three more years

ADELAIDE United legend Isaías Sánchez has returned to the Reds on a three-year deal, entering into his second stint at the club after six trophy-laden seasons between 2013-19.

Isaías departed Adelaide at the end of the 2018/19 A-League season, after the Reds fell to Perth Glory in a dramatic Semi Final shootout. The Spaniard left with 181 appearances for Adelaide across all competitions to his name, along with two FFA Cup titles (2014,2018) and the 2015/16 A-League Premiership/Championship double.

The 34-year-old wrote his name into A-League folklore in the Reds’ Grand Final triumph over Western Sydney Wanderers in 2016, netting a sublime free-kick in front of a packed house at Adelaide Oval to help steer his side toward Championship glory.

The former club captain rejoins Adelaide after a two-season stint at Qatari club Al-Wakrah, and will be eager to pick up where he left off in the A-League after collecting the Reds’ Club Champion award in three successive seasons before departing in 2019.

“My family and I are really, really happy to be coming back home to Adelaide,” Isaías said.

“I’m looking forward to arriving in South Australia and training with the boys and settling back into Australian life.

“Returning to Adelaide United was an easy decision after being in Qatar for two years because it is a special club and the most special club I have played at in my whole career.

“I have achieved many things wearing the red shirt in the past and I hope we can achieve many more over the next three seasons together.”
