Sydney FC rising star Indiana Dos Santos has signed a two-year contract extension with the Ninja A-League club.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has made 32 appearances for the Sky Blues since her debut in 2023; the club’s youngest-ever Championship winner at just 15 years of age, Dos Santos contributed to the club’s back-to-back Ninja A-League Grand Final victories in 2023 and 2024 and helped her side win the Premiership in the 2022-23 season.

GOAL OF THE WEEK: PICK YOUR WINNER!

Widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Australian football, Dos Santos has expressed her desire to break into the CommBank Matildas squad throughout her extended stay at the Sky Blues.

“I’m so happy, it’s like a dream come true,” she said.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Sydney FC. It has always been a club I have supported since I was young, so I’m really excited to hopefully help the club win some more Championships.

“It’s good to know I’m going to be here for two more years, it’s 100% something I have wanted. So, I am really happy and can’t wait.

“In the next two years I want to develop as a player, help the club win as many games as possible and hopefully get a call into the Matildas.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given by Coach Ante (Juric), the facilities here at Sky Park are great, and the players are just amazing.

“They help you get better every single day and you train against the best.”

Having secured the services of the talented teenager for a further two years, Sydney FC head coach Ante Juric expressed his excitement at the prospect of contributing further to Dos Santos’ development.

“Dos Santos is an extremely talented young player, and I expect she will go on and have a great career,” Juric said.

“We are extremely fortunate that she has agreed to sign for another two seasons for Sydney FC and we want to help her continue to develop and achieve her potential.

“She’s playing a lot more games this season and is getting better and better with every appearance and I’m certain she is a star of the future.”

Next up for Dos Santos and Sydney FC is a clash with Canberra United at Leichhardt Oval on Tuesday night; the midweek matchup offers Dos Santos the chance to go up against her older sister and former Sydney FC teammate Jynaya Dos Santos, who moved to the nation’s capital at the end of the 2023-24 Ninja A-League season.

“I think it’s going to be a great rivalry,” she said.

“Hopefully we can flip the season around from here and start winning some games.

“It will be good to get the win, especially if it’s against her. We’ve been talking about it and she’s really excited, in fact we are both really excited so let’s see what happens.

“There’s a bit of pressure but I think we’ve just got to stay calm and do what we do.

“I think we’ve got to execute up top and start finishing.

“Once that happens, I think everything will fall into place and we’ll start winning and get into that flow again.”
