Roy O’Donovan is set to make his Newcastle Jets return in the F3 Derby against one of his former clubs, the Central Coast Mariners, on Sunday.
However, there is no mention of recovering marquee man Wes Hoolahan on interim coach Craig Deans’ team sheet – as the Jets deem the ‘Irish Messi’ not fit enough for the clash – while Alen Stajcic’s Mariners involve new signing Chris Harold as Jordan Murray misses out with a foot injury.
Perth Glory captain Diego Castro is back available for Tony Popovic in the Distance Derby against Wellington Phoenix after the Spanish maestro missed the 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory last week.
Chris Ikonomidis is absent after being sidelined for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, while Kiwi club has Matti Steinmann back from a ban and Reno Piscopo is cleared after international duty with the Australia U-23 squad.
Melbourne City are boosted by the returns of Scott Jamieson and Adrian Luna but Erick Mombaerts has a centre-half problem with the injured Jack Hendry joining Richard Windbichler on the sidelines and Harrison Delbridge suspended for the third Melbourne Derby of the season.
Tim Hoogland and Robbie Kruse are back in the Victory roster and new signing Giancarlo Gallifuoco reinforces Carlos Salvachu’s numbers, but Leigh Broxham is missing with a calf injury.
Sydney FC playmaker Alex Baumjohann misses the Sydney Derby so will not face his former club, Western Sydney Wanderers. Brisbane Roar will be without Scott Neville for their home match against Adelaide, where Stefan Mauk may line up against his old employers in Queensland.
Read on for all of the important team news for every match this weekend.
