Hyundai A-League stats preview: Glory v City

Perth Glory will be desperate to turn around a horror fortnight when they play host to Melbourne City on Tuesday night at nib Stadium.

Glory remain just one point adrift of the Hyundai A-League top six despite heavy back-to-back losses to Sydney FC (6-0) and Adelaide United (3-0).

It doesn’t get any easier against third-placed City, though Perth did win the previous meeting between the two teams in Round 8 at AAMI Park (3-1).

Check out some of the key stats and facts ahead of this mid-week fixture.

  • Perth Glory have won their last three games against Melbourne City, never before have they won more in succession against them.
  • Melbourne City have picked up just one point from their last eight visits to nib Stadium (D1, L7), with their only A-League win at the venue coming in December 2011.
  • Perth have now lost back-to-back games, the last time they went on a longer losing streak was a four-game drought in February 2014.
  • Just one of City’s last 23 games has ended in a draw; a 1-all versus the Wanderers in Round 6 this season being the only stalemate in that span (W11, L11).
  • Perth Glory have made more clearances (375) than any other team so far this season.
  • Melbourne City had made 218 interceptions this season, the most of any team but just seven more than second-ranked Perth (211).
  • Brandon Wilson has a passing accuracy of 84% in opposition territory this campaign, the best of any player to have made at least 50 passes in that range of the pitch.
  • Bart Schenkeveld has the best passing accuracy (89%) of any player to have made more than 20 passes so far this season.
