Everything you need to know for TONIGHT’s Australia Cup play-off

It's been another massive week in the Isuzu UTE A-League and Liberty A-League with goalkeepers on the move and a few international players set to ply their trade on our shores for the upcoming season.

One spot in the 2024 Australia Cup Round of 32 is up for grabs this week in Darwin after Perth Glory defeated Brisbane Roar on Tuesday night. Here’s everything you need to know.

The 32-team stage of the tournament will feature 10 Isuzu UTE A-League clubs after a pair of play-offs between the four teams that finished 9th-12th on the 2023-24 table finalise the final two entrants into the Round of 32. Both games will be staged at Darwin Football Stadium.

On Tuesday night, David Zdrilic’s new-look Perth Glory took down 2023 runners-up Brisbane Roar 4-2, earning a meeting with Melbourne City in the Australia Cup Round of 32 on August 3.

On Wednesday night, Western United (11th) and Newcastle Jets (10th) go head-to-head to secure a Round of 32 tie against NPLM NSW outfit Rockdale Ilinden on July 31.

John Aloisi’s Western have some exciting academy graduates progressing through the ranks as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season. The youthful Jets are also looking to improve in 2024-25, buoyed by the fact they have new owners.
