Melbourne Victory have announced the retention of Daniel Georgievski after the defender signed a two-year contract extension with the reigning champions.
The 27-year-old joined Melbourne Victory on the eve of the 2014/15 season from Romanian club FC Steaua Bucuresti on a one-year contract and played in 21 of the club’s 29 games during its Premiership and Championship winning campaign.
Melbourne Victory head coach Kevin Muscat said securing Georgievski was an important signing for the club.
“Daniel made a significant contribution to our successful 2014/15 season in defence so to retain him for another two years is a great outcome for the club,” Muscat said.
“He joins a list of players who have committed to Melbourne Victory for the future and that says a great deal about our football club and the shared vision of these players for more success.
Georgievski, who scored three goals in his debut Hyundai A-League season, said he is looking forward to continuing his career at Melbourne Victory.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Melbourne Victory so far and I was very keen to re-sign so I’m thrilled to be staying for another two seasons,” Georgievski said.
“The team is exceptionally well led by Kevin and the club has a lot of dedicated people committed to achieving further success so I’m looking forward to what the future holds at this great club.
“A major factor in my decision to re-sign was the opportunity to continue to play in front of our incredibly passionate and loyal members and fans, which is one of the great things about playing for Melbourne Victory.”
Georgievski joins Matthieu Delpierre, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Jason Geria, Connor Pain, Scott Galloway and Rashid Mahazi who have all signed contract extensions since the start of the 2014/15 season.
