Wellington’s defensive unit earned them the win against Sydney FC, with a clean sheet, three big saves from Eamonn McCarron, a key block from Manjrekar James and the goals coming from wing back Carlo Armiento and centre back Isaac Hughes.
Newcastle took the win 3-1 when these sides met in Round 8. Adams, Lachlan Rose and Clayton Taylor scored all of Newcastle’s goals within seven minutes, before Ifeanyi Eze pulled one back.

Auckland FC: 2-1 loss to Melbourne City (A)
Central Coast Mariners: 1-1 draw with Macarthur FC (H)
Lachlan Brook keeping his scoring streak going wasn’t enough for Auckland to grab a point against Melbourne City, as they lost a match after scoring first for the first time since joining the A-Leagues.
Along with Brook, Sam Cosgrove and Jesse Randall have formed the most potent front three in the league. The trio have combined for 15 goals and seven assists so far this season.
The Mariners had to wait an extra day to earn their point against Macarthur, with torrential rain seeing their match moved to Sunday.
Sabit Ngor’s equaliser rather epitomised what he has brought to this Mariners side; lightning pace on the counter attack, then composure in taking it around the keeper and levelling to make it 1-1.
The Round 8 clash between these sides ended 2-1 to Auckland. Randall and Cosgrove scored for Auckland, while the Mariners had initially pulled one back courtesy of a Callan Elliot own goal.

Round 13 result
Brisbane Roar: 2-1 win over Perth Glory (A)
Adelaide United: 2-1 win over Melbourne Victory (H)
Brisbane arrested their three match slide with a solid win away in Perth. English striker Chris Long and midfielder Sam Klein both scored their second goals of the season in the 2-1 victory.
Adelaide’s experienced duo of Craig Goodwin and Ryan Kitto lifted right when they needed them to in their dramatic 2-1 win over Melbourne Victory.
Adelaide have done well while missing their players on Olyroos duty, but they’ll be glad to get Luka Jovanović, Yaya Dukuly and Ethan Alagich all back ahead of this weekend.
A big plus for Brisbane Roar is that head coach Michael Valkanis will be back in the dugout for this game after missing the win in Perth due to the passing of his mother.
Meanwhile, the Queenslanders will also have Socceroos striker Nicholas D’Agostino available for the clash at Suncorp Stadium after he joined on loan from Norwegian club Viking FK.

Round 13 result
Macarthur FC: 1-1 draw with Central Coast Mariners (A)
Melbourne City: 2-1 win over Auckland FC (H)
Just goal difference splits these two evenly matched sides on the table, both with five wins, five draws and four losses so far this season.
Socceroo Mitch Duke made his first appearance for Macarthur in their 1-1 draw with Central Coast last week and immediately made an impact, getting the assist for Luke Vickery’s goal.
Melbourne City salvaged an impressive come from behind win against Auckland FC. Young strikers Max Caputo and Medin Memeti scored a goal each in the last 20 minutes to earn the crucial points that keep them in the top six.
It was a Melbourne City debut for Ryan Teague against Auckland, and there may yet be another Socceroo making his debut for the club this weekend, albeit for the second time, with City having signed academy product and most recently ex-Victory winger Daniel Arzani on loan.
These sides played out a 1-1 draw on the 23rd of December, Aziz Behich and Rafael Duran the goal scorers.

Current table position
Western Sydney Wanderers: 12th
Perth Glory: 10th
Round 13 result
Western Sydney Wanderers: 2-1 loss to Newcastle Jets (H)
Perth Glory: 2-1 loss to Brisbane Roar (H)
There’s been a change at the top for Wanderers after their loss to the Jets, they made the decision midweek to part ways with coach Alen Stajcic, with Gary van Egmond tasked with leading the side until the end of the season.
As for Perth, they took the lead against Brisbane through Adam Taggart, but a goal either side of half time for the Roar saw Perth come away empty handed.
Western Sydney have added known A-League quantity Hiroshi Ibusuki to their side in search of goals. The former Adelaide United and Western United Striker made his WSW debut against Newcastle, playing the full second half.
Perth’s form line from their last five matches reads LWLWL. If this trend continues, we’re looking at a Glory win. Though Western Sydney will have new coach bounce on their side.
These teams met in round 7, where Sebastian Despotovski’s goal saw Perth seal a 1-0 victory.

Round 13 result
Melbourne Victory: 2-1 loss to Adelaide United (A)
Sydney FC: 2-0 loss to Wellington Phoenix (H)
Melbourne Victory thought they had the win against Adelaide United when Matthew Grimaldi’s strike hit the back of the net to make it 2-1. However, that goal was disallowed and Adelaide went down the other end and grabbed a dramatic 2-1 win care of Ryan Kitto’s late goal.
As if the Big Blue wasn’t already an easy fixture to get motivated for, this perceived injustice just adds fuel to the fire for the Victory.
Sydney FC found Wellington to be impenetrable last week, having nearly 70% of possession and creating three big chances yet still losing 2-0.
The Sky Blues will also now be without midfielder Rhys Youlley, who’ll serve the first match of his three match ban for a bad challenge on Wellington’s Ramy Najjarine.
This will be the second Big Blue of the season. Two goals from Joe Lolley and one from Alex Grant saw the first go the way of Sydney with a 3-0 win.
