Auckland FC defender Francis De Vries has been named December Shark Player of the Month in the Isuzu UTE A-League.
De Vries took out the award after a fan vote, eclipsing a strong field of contenders. The Black Knights full-back was nominated alongside Brandon Borrello, Joe Lolley, Zach Clough, Douglas Costa, Dylan Scicluna, Nicolas Milanovic, Marin Jakolis, Yonatan Cohen and Adrian Segecic.

De Vries received the most votes for the monthly award, with Wanderers midfielder Dylan Scicluna receiving the second-most votes and Adelaide United midfielder Zach Clough finishing third in the count.
The 10 nominees each month are selected via FotMob’s rating system. The 10 players with the highest FotMob rating (from 0.0 to 10.0) across each voting period are selected as the monthly nominees for the Shark Player of the Month award.
The December eligibility period included Rounds 6-10 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season, with games between November 29 and December 29 considered in the FotMob rating system. De Vries received a FotMob rating of 7.62 throughout the eligibility period, playing five games (three wins, one draw, one defeat) and scoring his first Isuzu UTE A-League goal in Auckland’s 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets in Round 6.
De Vries and Auckland are next in action against Perth Glory at HBF Park on Saturday, January 11.
