EXCLUSIVE: Bridge opens up on his maiden Wanderers goal, the club’s Spanish trio and playing Messi

From scoring the club’s first goal to becoming their most capped player, Mark Bridge is rightly considered a legend amongst Western Sydney Wanderers fans.

Back at the club for the 2017/18 Season after a short stint in Thailand, Bridge is getting back to his best as the Red and Black have gone four games unbeaten.

Ahead of the club’s Friday night blockbuster against Melbourne Victory, the 32-year-old chats to www.a-league.com.au as part of our “Extra Time” series.

Bridge discusses everything from playing for the Socceroos, scoring the Wanderers’ first-ever Hyundai A-League goal and taking on Lionel Messi in the Olympics.

He also opens up on the club’s Spanish contingent Oriol Riera, Raul Llorente and Alvaro Cejudo and why they have hit the ground running in the Hyundai A-League.

“They are good talents but more importantly they are good people,” Bridge said.

“It’s very hard, you get some good players that come into the A-League sometimes but they don’t fit into the Australian way, the Australian culture.

“We’re hard working people, conditions are tough but they have fitted in brilliantly.”
