Ex-Man City and England midfielder Rodwell departs Wanderers

Former England international Jack Rodwell is a Western Sydney Wanderers player no longer, departing Wanderland after one Isuzu UTE A-League season.

Rodwell arrived in Western Sydney following his Sheffield United release in June last year, but exits at the conclusion of his Wanderers contract.

“The Wanderers would like to thank Jack for his contribution to the club,” Western Sydney said.

In his one and only campaign with the Wanderers, the ex-Everton and Manchester City midfielder scored three goals in 14 A-League Men appearances.

It was Rodwell’s best goalscoring return in league football since 2014-15, where he scored three Premier League goals for Sunderland.

The 31-year-old also captained the A-Leagues All Stars against LaLiga powerhouse Barcelona in Sydney in May.
