Brisbane Roar have added significant firepower to their Liberty A-League squad by recruiting decorated Bulgarian international Evdokia Popadinova from Italian club Lazio.
The 27-year-old joins the Roar having helped steer Lazio to the Serie B Feminine title in 2023-24 and promotion to the Italian top flight. Popadinova scored four goals for Lazio in 14 appearances.
A debutant for Bulgaria at 16, Popadinova has accumulated 10 caps for her nation throughout her career to date, and has been named Bulgarian Footballer of the Year six times.

Popadinova has spent the past four years of her club football in Italy with Napoli, Sassuolo and Lazio having previously represented Danish Superliga side Aalborg BK, English clubs London Bees and Bristol Academy as well as Sportika Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria.
Brisbane’s second international recruit of the off-season along with Singapore international Danelle Tan, Popadinova says joining the Roar ticks off a career bucket list item.
“I’m extremely excited to play in Australia,” Popadinova said.
“This has been a huge dream of mine for quite some time, and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity. I have followed the league in the past years, and I cannot wait to step out onto the field and represent Brisbane Roar.”
