Elimination Final Preview: Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United, June 13

Brisbane Roar will look to make the most of home ground advantage in an Elimination Final clash with Adelaide United at Moreton Daily Stadium on Sunday, June 13.

In the two meetings between these sides throughout the 2020/21 season, the home side prevailed on both occasions.

Brisbane notched a 3-1 win at Moreton Daily Stadium in Matchweek 6 thanks to a brace from Dylan Wenzel-Halls and a Jay O’Shea strike, before the Reds hit back in Matchweek 21 at Coopers Stadium. Craig Goodwin scored the opening goal and Joey Champness was denied from the spot by Adelaide ‘keeper James Delianov in a 1-0 win to the hosts.

Warren Moon’s Roar come into the Finals Series on an indifferent run of form. After sealing a statement 3-0 win over Melbourne City, Brisbane lost to Western Sydney Wanderers, beat Perth Glory then fell to Sydney FC in their last game of the regular season.

The Reds, meanwhile, snuck into the Finals Series after going winless in two games to end the campaign. A heavy 4-1 home defeat at the hands of the Sky Blues preceded a 2-2 draw with the Wanderers which gave Carl Veart’s side the solitary point needed to book a place in the post-season.
