Melbourne Victory star Denis Genreau dealt multi-game ban for Round 6 red card: Details

Melbourne Victory midfielder Denis Genreau has been dealt a two-game ban by Football Australia’s independent Match Review Panel (MRP) for a red card earned in his side’s Round 6 loss to Brisbane Roar.

Genreau was sent off for a stamp on Roar forward Henry Hore in stoppage time of the 1-0 loss at Suncorp Stadium.

The MRP – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Rhali Dobson and Con Diomis – convened on Monday afternoon to consider the incident, and determined Genreau had committed the offence of “violent conduct”, which carries a minimum two-game sanction.

The MRP confirmed the minimum two-game suspension for Genreau, sidelining the Socceroos midfielder for Victory’s next two fixtures against Macarthur Bulls (December 5) and Adelaide United (December 13).

Genreau will be available for selection once again when Victory face Melbourne City in the Melbourne Derby on December 20.
