Daniel Bennie joins English Championship club from Perth Glory for undisclosed fee

Perth Glory rising star Daniel Bennie has completed a move to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers after one season in the Isuzu UTE A-League club’s first-team squad.

The 18-year-old Glory academy graduate joins QPR for an undisclosed fee after 25 Isuzu UTE A-League appearances for Glory in the 2023-24 season. Bennie will initially join the club’s development squad.

Bennie, who scored on debut for Glory against Premier League opponents West Ham United in pre-season, scored one goal through his 25 league appearances for the club against Melbourne Victory in Round 22.

Bennie’s debut league season came after he starred for the Joeys at the 2023 U17 Asian Cup. The 18-year-old will rise through the ranks of the Australian youth international system in the coming years as he takes on the opportunity to impress in England at QPR.

“I would like to thank everyone at Perth Glory for making my first professional season so enjoyable,” Bennie said.

“To all the coaching staff and players, thank you all for the way you have treated me. I have come along in leaps and bounds learning from you all this season.

“And I’d also like to thank the fans for sticking with us all season. It’s been a honour playing in front of you and I wish the club all the best for next season.”

Perth Glory CEO Anthony Radich congratulated Bennie on his move and thanked the teenager for his contribution to the 2023-24 season.

“This is a great opportunity for Daniel and one that he deserves for all the hard work that he has put in during his time with us,” he said.

“He is a very impressive young man with maturity beyond his years and we’re very proud of the role that our PGFC Academy has played in his development.

“We thank Daniel for his service to Perth Glory and wish him all the very best as he continues his football journey in England.”
