Craig Goodwin has been named Adelaide United captain for the second time in his career following the Subway Socceroos winger’s return to his hometown club ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
The Adelaide legend returned to the Reds in June, signing a three-year deal after two years spent at Saudi Pro League side Al-Wehda.

The club’s all-time leading goalscorer has reclaimed the armband from fullback Ryan Kitto, who led the club through the past two Isuzu UTE A-League campaigns.
Goodwin spearheads a leadership group featuring experienced Dutchman Bart Vriends as well as club academy products and South Australian rising stars Panagiotis Kikianis and Ethan Alagich.

The promotion of Alagich and Kikianis to the leadership group is an exciting moment for a club that pride themselves on nurturing local talent.
Speaking after his position as Adelaide captain was confirmed, Goodwin expressed his pride in leading his hometown club and challenged the playing group to set and rise to high standards in the season ahead.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be named captain again – it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly,” Goodwin said.
“But this isn’t about one person – it’s about the entire group. I genuinely believe we have the quality and the potential, but what’s going to make the real difference is our mentality. It’s how we show up every day, how we push each other, and how we hold ourselves to higher standards.
“Us players have all got individual goals – whether it’s the national team, a move overseas, or simply being the best we can be – but none of that happens unless we raise the bar in everything we do.
“We need to believe in ourselves, be consistent in our work, and stay relentless. I’m proud to lead this group again, and I’m committed to winning – day in, day out.”
