Melbourne Victory have cut ties with full-back Corey Brown.
The 26-year-old played only six matches in the 2019/20 season under now departed boss Marco Kurz, three of which were from the substitutes bench as the returning Adama Traore locked down a starting berth at left-back.
Brown started 21 of his 23 appearances during his former head coach Kevin Muscat’s final season in charge as Victory made it to the Hyundai A-League Semi Finals after finishing fourth in the ladder.
Brown, who played 88 matches during six seasons at his hometown club Brisbane Roar before heading south to Victoria, was deemed surplus to requirements under new chief Carlos Salvachua.
“The club, Corey and his management have mutually agreed to part ways for personal reasons,” Football Operations Manager Paul Trimboli told the club’s website.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, we thank Corey for his service to Melbourne Victory over the past two seasons and wish him all the best for the next chapter in his career.”
