City’s Rhali Dobson went closest to opening the scoring with 20 minutes to go. Jess Fishlock with a superb ball through but Dobson’s stretching effort screwed the ball across Roar’s goal and it hit the post.

Kyah Simon’s effort for City was tipped over by Roar’s keeper Mackenzie Arnold, as City pressed hard for a goal.

There was a late shout for a penalty but Brisbane survived thanks in large part to Claire Polkinghorne who was immense throughout.

In the first half, Steph Catley had a long-range effort that almost deceived Arnold.

Brisbane’s Hayley Raso forced Lydia Williams to make a good stop from her rasping drive also in the first half.
