Central Coast Mariners land ‘exciting’ Brazilian: ‘We have really high hopes’

Central Coast Mariners have signed Brazilian forward Vitor Feijao, the Isuzu UTE A-League champions announced.

Feijao arrives in Gosford on a two-year deal after spending the 2023-24 season with Caxias in Brazil’s third tier where he scored three goals.

The 28-year-old graduated from the Parana academy and debuted as a 19-year-old in the Brazilian Serie B. He was also part of the 2017 squad that secured promotion to the top flight for the first time in 10 years.

Feijao has spent the majority of his career in his homeland with Jacuipense, Coritiba, Criciuma, Ceara, Guarani SP, Figueirense, Paysandu, Boavista RJ and Londrina, though he has spent time abroad with Albanian side Kukesi and Belarusian Premier League outfit FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk.

“I am very happy to be here on the Central Coast, joining an amazing club like the Mariners,” Feijao said after becoming the sixth Brazilian to play for the Mariners.

“I’m very motivated to play my best football here and to help the club achieve our goals for this season. I can’t wait to get started.”

Feijao is Central Coast’s fifth and final VISA player for the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A- League season, joining Doka, Brian Kaltak, Ryan Edmondson and Alfie McCalmont.

He is the latest new face in Gosford, after Lucas Mauragis, Haine Eames (scholarship contract)Sasha Kuzevski (promoted)Alfie McCalmontAdam Pavlesic and Diesel Herrington.

“We are really thrilled to get the deal over the line and to have Vitor join the club,” said Mariners head coach Mark Jackson.

“He has been a player that we have been working really hard to get and it is great to have him here on the Coast with us.

“He is a really exciting attacking player, one who is dynamic and powerful, and he is someone that we have really high hopes for.

“He already knows Doka which will be a positive and of real benefit to Vitor to help him settle. I know the fans will be really excited about the footballer that we are getting in Vitor.”
